Sunanda Pushkar Biography
Sunanda Pushkar was a sales director in the Dubai-based TECOM Investments, and a co-owner of Rendezvous Sports World. But she remained in limelight as the wife of politician of Indian national congress and Indian Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor. Both Tharoor and Pushkar had married twice before. They tied knot in his ancestral home in Elavanchery of Palakkad district (Tharoor’s hometown) on 22 August 2010. She has been in news since her association with Shashi Tharoor and allegations of corruption of Kochi IPL Team’s stake worth 70 crore.
She has been enjoying a happy married life with Tharoor. But one day following the twitter controversy, she was found dead on January 17, 2014 at The Leela Palace Hotel in the Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi. Though it seems to be a suicide, final reports are yet to come out. It’s believed to be the after event of tweets of her husband with Pakistani woman journalist, Mehr Tarar. One day before Pushkar had accused 45-year-old Pakistani journalist of stalking her husband and trying to "break" her marriage when she was away for medical treatment.
Sunanda Pushkar was born on 1st January 1962 in a family of landlords and army officers. Her father is Lt. Col. P. Das. Her family migrated to Bomai after their house was set afire by militants in 1990. Sunnada had two brothers. She graduated from the Government College for Women in Srinagar. Her first marriage with Sanjay Raina, a Kashmiri ended in a divorce. She married a Kerala businessman Sujith Menon second and there is a son in this wedlock. Sujith died in a road accident in 1997. Prior to her marriage to Tharoor, she worked a sales director in a Dubai-based real estate company Tecom.
