Uday Kiran Biography
Uday Kiran was a prominent hero of Telugu cinema in the early 2000’s. He shot to fame with the super success of first three movies, Chitram (2000), Nuvvu Nenu (2001) and Manasantha Nuvve (2001). This achievement earned him the title, "Hat-trick Hero" of Tollywood. However after his called-off marriage with Chiranjeevi's daughter Sushmitha in 2003, his career graph fell so steep and Nee Sneham, released in 2002 was his last successful movie. After spending more than 12 unsuccessful years in Tollywood, he committed suicide on 5 January 2014 hanging himself inside his flat in Srinagar colony, Hyderabad. He was survived with his wife Vishitha, whom he tied knot in 2012.
He was suffering from depression following the financial crisis for about one year and his suicide shocked the film world. It’s believed that after his broken engagement with Chiranjeevi's daughter, he was not given opportunities in the big four banners of Tollywood though he was a talented actor. The big 4 banners were blamed for Kiran’s death. One more reason cited was that since he was a Brahmin, he was not given opportunities in movies. A district attorney, Arun Kumar in Hyderabad filed a case with human rights commission against some film fraternities for showing discrimination against him. He sought further investigation of the case and asked action against the 4 big camps, Chiranjeevi family, Daggubati family, NTR family and Dil Raju camp to keep him out of work using powers.
Uday Kiran was born on 26 June 1980. This good looking hero started his modelling career at college and made his film debut at a young age of 20. Teja was his mentor who offered him the lead role of 17 year old boy in his upcoming flick, Chitram. The movie released in 2000 was a huge success, establishing his career as a successful hero. It was followed by two more hits in the following year, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve earning him the title, "Hat-trick Hero" of Tollywood. He bagged Filmfare best actor award Nuvvu Nenu, thus becoming the youngest winner of this award after Kamal Haasan.
It was followed by Kalusukovalani, Sreeram and blockbuster Nee Sneham, for which he received a Filmfare nomination for best actor. His first four films were remade into all regional languages, the only Telugu actor to receive this recognition. However, Nee Sheham was his last successful movie, released in 2002. After his broken engagement with Chiranjeevi's daughter, his career fell down so quickly and after spending a Jupiter year struggling in Tollywood, he committed suicide. Thus Telugu film industry lost a budding actor. He has also played lead roles in a few Tamil movies like Pen Singam, Vambu Sandai and Poi.
