Vijay Shekhar Sharma Biography 
Vijay Shekhar Sharma is an Indian businessman and entrepreneur and founder of Paytm, e-commerce shopping website started in the year 2010. It is headquartered in Noida, India. Mobile recharging, bill payments and online business are the major events associated with Paytm. In 2016 Paytm also launched movie ticket booking. He currently serves as the CEO of Paytm and One97 Communications Limited. Famous entrepreneurs Masayoshi Son and Jack Ma are his inspirations. He was given an honorary doctorate by Amity University Gurgaon in 2016.
Vijay Shekhar Sharma hails from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. His basic education was done in Hindi language and he was brought up in a rural environment. He completed engineering from Delhi College of Engineering. He got admission to the college when he was only 15, based on his talent. A special permission was granted from the administration level for his admission. During his academic years, he faced troubles due to his poor English. He used to keep a dictionary during his engineering days and also learnt from his seniors.
During his academic years he started a website named indiasite.net in the year 1997. His first startup was a failure. He sold it two years later for $1 million. Then he started One97 Communications in 2005 which offered news updates on mobile and also worked as a search engine. His initial services include searching contacts through SMSs, which became popular. The company was later restructured as Paytm, which offers many other facilities including mobile recharging and online bill payments.
His product Paytm – India’s best e-wallet service has already been downloaded from the play store for over 1 crore times and is one of the best e-wallet solutions of the country. His company also spent huge amount of 200 crore Indian rupees to sponsor Indian cricket team for a period of four years.
