S. Gopal Reddy Biography
S. Gopal Reddy is a noted cinematographer of Tollywood who has produced a few movies as well. Along with Dr. K. L Narayana, he established Durga Arts. He is married to the elder sister of noted cinematographer, Rasool Ellore. His son, Sundeep is also a professional cinematographer. Apart from Telugu movies, he has also done a few Bollywood movies like Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye (1983), Aakhree Raasta (1986) and Dilwaala (1986). Shiva for Ram Gopal Varma is one of his noted works. Rasool Ellore has worked with him as assistant for a couple of years before he became full-fledged cinematographer. Kshana kshanam (1990) is one of his noted movies as a film producer which gave first Filmfare award to actress Sridevi.
S. Gopala Reddy was born on 4 July 1951 in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. He started his career in 1968 with Venus Studio, Chennai, as an apprentice to veteran cinematographer V.S.R. Swami. When he joined film industry he worked in Black and White movies. He got break into the Telugu film industry in the year 1979 as a full-fledged cinematographer and throughout 1980’s he has been associated with Bollywood and Tollywood. He has done camera work for Amitabh Bachchan movies like Aakhri rastha, ‘Inquilab’ and ‘Suryavanshi’ in the 1980’s. ‘Kachche Dhage’ starring Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan, is another noted work during 1990’s.
Reddy has done more than 125 movies in the Film industry of which 15 movies exclusively belong to south Indian star Nagarjuna. ‘Dongata’ and ‘Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu’ are his works as a noted producer and he has produced one Bollywood movie, Hello Brother in 1999 which starred Salman Khan and Rani Mukherji in lead roles. ‘Na Autograph’ was his debut directorial venture.
